Cottington Lakes Fishery Rules

General rules

(must be read in conjunction with lake specific rules below)

Any person wishing to fish at Cottington Lakes fishery, or visiting another angler, is responsible for ensuring that they are familiar with these rules, which are available through AKC Bait and Tackle, via the noticeboard (outside the Lake
House Kitchen) or through the fishery website. Our rules exist to protect our fish stock and wildlife and help ensure that visitors to the fishery have an enjoyable, pleasant and, above all, safe visit

1 All anglers and guests accept and agree to by the fishery rules

2 For group bookings if any angler within the group fails to comply with the fishery rules, the hole group will be deemed to have broken the rules

3 All anglers and guests must have a valid ticket.

4 Anglers are permitted to a maximum of one non fishing guest.

5 All anglers and guest must park in dedicated car parks STAY OFF THE GRASS

6 All anglers must have a valid Environment license

7 Please SHUT all gates around the fishery

8 No wading on any lake

9 Fishing is undertaken at your own risk and no responsibility will be accepted by the fishery

10 Angler are required to respect all signs located on site

11 Juniors under 13 must be accompanied by a adult

12 Youths 16 and under must be accompanied by a adult for night fishing

13 All fish must be handled with care and returned to the water as soon as possible

14 No tents to be used anglers must use a fishing BIVVY

15 Anglers use appropriate tackle.

16 Rods must not be left UNATTENDED at any time.

17 Braided Mainline is Banned 

18 NO LEADERS of any type

19 Use of lures is strictly banned.

20 Pike fishing with spinners or live baits is prohibited. DEAD BAITS ONLY

21 All litter must be removed from the lakes wheelie bins are provided

22 NO NUTS OF ANY TYPE

23 Instances of fish being hurt,injured,tethered in line must be reported to the Fishery Manager or Tackle Shop

24 All Fires are prohibited.

25 BBQ are prohibited but must be rswised of the ground.

26 Anyone found causing a disturbance/will be asked to leavce.

27 No drones

28 All serious accidents must be reported to the fishery manager

29 Fisheries management reserve the right to amend the rules at the discretion.

Pepper / Christine & Heron lakes rules

Persons wishing to fish Lakes, Heron, Christine and Pepper;

1 Must be suitably experienced ,or in the case of juniors, accompanied and under the supervision of a suitably experienced adult. Access to Lake Pepper and Christine is at the discretion of fishery managers. Anglers maybe asked to switch lakes if not suitably experienced.

2 Two rods maximum at anytime.

3 Maximum hook size 4. No Bent Hooks, 360 Rigs.

4 Must use micro barb hooks

5 Must not use fixed rigs

6 Minimum mainline strength 12lb

7 Retaining fish is strictly prohibited

8 42 inch carp landing net minimum

9 Large unhooking matts must be used which must be dry prior to arrival at fishery.

10 Carp care kits must be used at all times

11 All Nuts are Banned including Tigers Peanuts and Brazil.

12 No Leaders of any type to be used.

13 No Braided Mainline, only for Marker and Spod rod

14 Tubing to be used at all times must be a minimum of 12inches.

15 Floater fishing and Zig fishing is allowed Minimum of 10lb hooklenths.

16 Bait Boats are allowed on lake Pepper but please be aware if you get it stuck in snags there will be a £20 retrieval charge.

17 Fishing is from the marked swims ONLY.

18 All Fish over 35lb must be reported to either a fishery manager or the tackle shop.

19 Any Snags or tethered fish must be reported to fishery manager or tackle shop.

20 The management have the right to ask you to leave if at anytime they feel the fish or fishery are being abused.

Black Lake rules

Persons wishing to fish Black lake;

1 When carp fishing you must adhere to same rules as the other carp lakes please read rules for Lake Pepper Christine Heron.

2 When Match/Pleasure fishing must use barbless hooks

3 All nets must be Dry prior to use.

4 Keepnets only to be used on arranged Matches

5 The management have the right to ask you to leave if at anytime they feel the fish or fishery are being abused.

Match / Elliot / WIndsor Lakes rules

Persons wishing to fish Match / Elliot / Windsor lakes;

1 One rod to be used ONLY

2 Must use Barbless hooks

3 All nets must be dry prior to use.

4 Keepnets only to be used in arranged matches.

5 The management have the right to ask you to leave if at anytime they feel the fish or fishery are being abused.

Failure to comply with any of the rules may result in you being asked to leave the complex. Return to the complex is purely at the Management’s
discretion.
