One week in May, last week in fact, a group of friends who we’ll call Alan, Frano, Nathan, Dave, Matt, Andy S, Tim, Andy G and Chris, fished Lake Pepper. And what a week it turned out to be!!
As if to emphasise its arrival into the 50lbs club, Cottington’s “big girl” came out again. This time it was Alan Pinner who, using all of his guile and expertise, landed Cottington’s big fish from peg 8 and weighing in at 51lbs 1oz;
Dave, from the group, said;
“During this week I also witnessed something that may never happen again, a moment I think everyone will leave this lake thinking ‘I was there.’ As it really was one of them moments, to be lucky enough to spend a short amount of time on the bank with UK fifty is somewhat overwhelming. The capture, Alan Pinner was someone I had known for a few years now, and he was looking in disbelief, shocked?! Damn right. This didn’t happen everyday, if ever to most UK anglers. Fifty one pounds and one ounce. That is something I shall never forget, a huge well done Alan. And thank you for allowing me that moment to spend with you and the boys on the bank.”
