Following on from his success over the festive break, a second visit to the lakes for Cottington regular Ben McDonnell, yielded a new pb with this stunning 17lbs 8oz pike:
This was Ben’s first pike out of Lake Alder.
Ben said ” it took a sprat just seconds after I put the rod down on its rest.”
This was not to be a one off event either. Further success followed during Ben’s 36hrs stay. Following on from a small jack pike also caught on sprat, was yet another 17lbs 8oz pike:
Ben said, “this was the third pike of the session, coming at night. This pike also weighed in at 17lbs 8oz, and upon checking the fish over I noticed it was a different pike than the one I had before with this one being thinner on its tail and having a few slits in the fins as well. This pike took a small joey mackerel cast towards the little bit of decking on the first peg.”
