Work is scheduled to start de-silting Match Lake today (3rd June.) Initially this work will be undertaken on the last two lanes of the lake and is planned to last approximately 2 weeks. The aim is to remove the silt and help to return the lake to its original depth, as well as removing and controlling the excess weed which is growing in it.
We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
UPDATE – Work has progressed well and we have in fact been able to de-silt three lanes, 5, 6 and 7. De-silting has returned these lanes to 5 feet at their deepest, 4 feet in front of the bunds and 3 feet along the bank. Work will now begin to repair the relatively minor damage to these lanes as well as the paths at either end.
Work to continue de-silting the lake will resume next year.
