Lake Alder is one of our most popular waters for day ticket anglers. However this means that there is competition for space and a risk to the welfare of the fish from over-fishing. To help reduce the stress to the fish in the lake, we’re closing some of the old swims. We hope that this will also improve the fishing for anglers by providing more space for those fishing the lake. Effective immediately the swims to the sides of the lake will be closed and fishing will only be permitted from the bank underneath the bund.
In the future we will be further limiting the number of anglers allowed on the lake at any one time, marking the lake out with new pegs and putting in place dedicated swims, similar to those being installed on Lake Pepper (see image below). These will also help to keep fishing gear cleaner and drier during the winter months;
