Camping at Cottington Lakes

We have designated areas suitable for touring caravans, trailer tents motor-homes and tents, 14 pitches having electric hook-up. One of these areas is a Former Caravan Club Location, with 4 electric hook-ups.

Non-electric and limited tent pitches are also available.

The caravan site is open all year round with 7 pitches available.  All with electrical hook-ups available.

All other caravan and campsite areas are open from 1st March – 31st October.

About

Cottington Lakes Camp Site is set in approximately 10 acres of Kentish Countryside, just outside Deal and off the A258 Sandwich Road

The site itself consists of 3 separate designated camping areas.

  • There is a former CL site for Caravan and Motorhome Club members which offers space for 4 caravans wanting electric hook-up and a further space for a self-contained motorhomes or tents.
  • The main site offers space for up to 14 caravans/motorhomes with 7 electric hook-up, with space for a further 8 self-contained caravans across the site.
  • A final more secluded area is available for up to 5 small caravans and tents.

The campsite is well situated, on the outskirts of the popular seaside town of Deal, with its many pubs and restaurants, together with a variety of museums and a theatre. For those looking for a more rural holiday, Cottington is well situated for the many seaside/clifftop and countryside walks that make up the White Cliffs Country walks, as well as being adjacent to Betteshanger Country Park, a popular venue with cyclists, but which now also boasts an outdoor cinema (seasonal), as well as hosting many local events.

If sampling the local history is your pleasure then Deal and Walmer Castle are just a few minutes away, whilst Richborough and Dover Castles are also within easy reach of the site.

Amenities

Cottington Campsite is situated within the very popular Cottington Lakes Fishery, which makes the campsite ideal for anyone wanting to spend a quiet afternoon on the bank with a rod in the water. There’s no need to book in advance (unless you are wanting to fish the specimen carp lakes where booking is essential) as there are 6 lakes to choose from and plenty of space to distance yourself, if you prefer.

Tickets are available online or from the on-site tackle shop, who not only supply a wide range of angling accessories, but are also more than happy to provide advice hints and tips free of charge!

There are limited shower and toilet facilities on site, which are cleaned daily by a local family run company.

Lastly, but by no means least, there is a café on site, which is now open, offering a variety of hot and cold food/drinks, snacks and ice creams.

Check-In and Rules

  • We will not accept or tolerate aggressive or abusive behaviour (either physical or verbal) to anyone working for or on behalf of Cottington Lakes & Campsite.
  • Check-in time is between 12pm and 3pm.
  • Subject to availability, we are happy for campers to extend their stay, however, campers are permitted a maximum stay of 13 consecutive nights only in any single booking. 
  • For the safety and protection of adults, children and animals alike, whilst on site vehicles must not exceed 10mph.
  • Pitches must (unless by prior arrangement and subject to availability), be vacated by 10am.
  • BBQs are permitted provided that they are raised off the ground. Hot charcoal and embers must not be placed on the grass (or in the hedgerows) and must be disposed of appropriately, once cold.
  • Campfires are not permitted.
  • The cost of fishing is not included in your pitch fees and day tickets must be arranged through AKC (the on-site tackle shop) upon, or after, arrival.
  • Unless you are fishing, access to, or beyond, the lakes is absolutely prohibited. These areas are NOT for walking / dog walking or cycling.
  • Parents must supervise their (dependent) children at all times.
  • Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times when outside.
  • Owners must clean up after their dogs.
  • All rubbish and waste must be disposed of appropriately at the waste bins provided in the main car park.
  • Caravans and ancillary equipment are campers responsibilities and we accept no liability for their damage or theft.
  • At our absolute discretion, we reserve the right to terminate the stay of any persons deemed to be causing a nuisance of any sort, or for failing to comply with any of the site rules, and compensation or refunds will not be considered.
  • We reserve the right to decline bookings, which in our opinion may be unsuitable, either by reason of numbers, composition or false declaration.
